A full day workshop connecting high school science teachers with current scientific research conducted at the University of Saskatchewan
Over the past four years, GlycoNet (Canadian Glycomics Network) and CMASTE (The Centre for Mathematics, Science and Technology Education) have worked together with scientists and high school science teachers across Canada to produce exciting, hands-on/minds-on, and relevant resources for classroom activities. These activities include lab experiments, career connections, case studies, and simulations. Some of the resources are developed in Saskatchewan and are tailored for curriculum in Saskatchewan.
Teachers at this workshop will tour research laboratories, meet the scientists, and hear about cutting-edge science. Some of the resource activities will be highlighted, and teachers will be able to try some of the activities and simulations that may be applicable in their classrooms.
The resources are recommended for secondary (grades 9 – 12) Chemistry, General, Health and/or Environmental Science teachers.
Lunch will be included. The workshop is sponsored by GlycoNet through the Networks of Centres of Excellence Program.
