In March 2023, Honourable Randy Boissonnault, Minister of Tourism and Associate Minister of Finance visited GlycoNet and its Integrated Services at the University of Alberta. The visit was led by Dr. Elizabeth Nanak, GlycoNet CEO, Dr. Warren Wakarchuk, GlycoNet Scientific Director, and Dr. Aminah Robinson Fayek, University of Alberta Vice President (Research and Innovation). 

During the informative tour, Minister Boissonnault had the opportunity to explore cutting-edge laboratories and engage in insightful discussions about glycomics research. The focus was not only scientific endeavours but also understanding the distinct services offered by GlycoNet, further emphasizing their important role in advancing glycomics research. Moreover, Minister Boissonnault was able to meet and interact with a diverse team of investigators, trainees, and staff, allowing for a deeper understanding of the collaborative and interdisciplinary nature of GlycoNet’s work. Additionally, the visit included members of 48Hour Discovery, an innovative start-up affiliated with GlycoNet, showcasing the real-world applications and entrepreneurial spirit fostered within the glycomics research community.
