GlycoNet Investigator and University of Alberta professor, Dr. Matthew Macauley, MCIC.\u00a0<\/p><p>The X-Chem Research Excellence Award recognizes outstanding contributions to medicinally relevant organic or biophysical chemistry. Sponsored by X-Chem, the award is presented annually to a scientist residing in Canada who has made distinguished contributions to the field.\u00a0<\/p><p>Dr. Macauley is a distinguished glycoimmunologist whose research explores the immunomodulatory Siglec family of receptors and their interactions with sialic acid-containing glycans. His work has introduced innovative tools to study Siglec-glycan interactions and investigate their roles in regulating immune cell function.
