Yesterday, the federal government announced the recipients of the prestigious 2016 Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship<\/a>. GlycoNet warmly congratulates two of its HQP\u2014J. Andrew Alexander and Natalie Bamford\u2014who are among the newest Vanier Scholars.\"screen-shot-2016-10-03-at-7-09-13-pm\"<\/p>\n

“We are extremely proud of these two Vanier Scholars, J. Andrew Alexander and Natalie Bamford, for their excellent contributions to GlycoNet’s projects,” remarked Dr. Todd Lowary, GlycoNet Scientific Director.<\/p>\n

The Vanier Scholarship program is designed to attract and retain world-class doctoral students, establishing Canada as a leading centre of excellence for higher education and research. Vanier Scholars demonstrate a high standard of scholarly achievement coupled with outstanding leadership skills. They receive $50,000 per year for up to three years of research.<\/p>\n

Vanier Scholarships are funded by three federal agencies: the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR)<\/a>, the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC)<\/a>, and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC)<\/a>.<\/p>\n
